The old deck was painted red, and the paint was the only thing holding it together. It was peeling everywhere, the boards were soft and stained along the house wall, and two tired planter boxes sat in the middle of the yard.
We took it all out and built new framing across the whole footprint. The surface is Deckorators Summit in Cliffside, 770 sq ft of composite with no painting and no yearly sealing. The deck follows the yard: a step down where the level changes, a clean edge around the planting bed, and a separate step at the side gate.
Worried that composite gets too hot to walk on in the sun? These are Deckorators cool-touch boards: they heat up less in the sun than conventional composite. If heat matters to you, ask us about it at the site visit.
Underneath we installed an animal barrier, so nothing moves in below the new deck.
