The old deck ran from the side yard to the pool, and every part of it was done. Boards were split and sagging, one had already broken through, and the steps along the side walkway were worn down to bare wood.
We tore it all out and rebuilt 664 sq ft of deck and landing in pressure-treated lumber, from the footings up.
At the pool, the old concrete steps stayed in place. We built a sleeper system over them and clad 100 sq ft of treads and risers in the same wood, so the pool steps now match the deck. Along the side walkway, new steps and a simple wood railing with a redwood top rail.
Concrete pool steps you'd rather not demolish? They can be clad to match a new deck, like these.
